Health and Safety Manual and Training

  • Option 1 - Starter Kit - Basic Health and Safety Manual for Employees, templates, 2 days coaching and information gathering with Management and two half day training sessions for staff - Are you looking for a basic health and safety manual for employees which outlines outlining responsibilities, rights of workers, injury, hazard reporting and safe work practices. This is an introductory kit to assist you in meeting immediate compliance without breaking the bank.  You can build on this program as funds become available. Note: This will not pass a WSIB Workwell Audit.
  • Option 2 - Full Health and Safety System -  Prepare for a WSIB Workwell Audit or implement a full health and safety system to eliminate injuries and illnesses.  A Management Health and Safety Manual, Employee Handbook, management, employee, WHMIS, JHSC Effectiveness, Accident Investigation training and a full roll out.  Option 2 is designed to help your organization internalize the importance of health and safety and the elimination of injuries and illnesses.  If you are committed in developing a full health and safety system with measurable results, this is the program for you.

1) The Magic Thought "Can't Happen to Me" The Leader's Guide to Building a Positive Organizational and Health and Safety Culture.  The Magic Thought provides an excellent understanding on policies, procedures, communication and training required to be an effective organization and health and safety training required under the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.

2) Health and Safety Responsibility Excellence Training Package including  procedures and continuous improvement plan.  Recommended for all managers, supervisors and JHSC members.

Day 1 - Journey to Health and Safety and personal excellence through commitment and responsibility. Opening with what is required to pass a WSIB Workwell Audit.

Day 2 - Personal Toolkit for Organizational and Personal Success including a segment on Violence in the Workplace. This section includes Violence in the Workplace information to meet Bill 168.

Day 3 - Mastering the Art of Progressive Discipline and Conducting Performance Appraisals

Day 4 - Mastering the legal requirements for health and safety- Journey to Building a Positive Health and Safety Culture.  This is a condensed version of JHSC Certification Training.

Day 5 - Master your legal requirements when there is a critical injury and how to conduct an accident investigation with the goal of finding the route cause to future incidents don't happen.

 

3) Understanding the OHSA, Regulations through The Magic Thought or Health and Safety Responsibility Excellence Training Package.

  • Understanding the OHSA, Regulations and penalties.
  • Roles and Responsibilities - Internal Responsibility System
  • Understanding the powers of the Ministry of Labour and accident investigation
  • Due Diligence - How to establish Due Diligence
  • Joint Health and Safety Committee requirements.
  • Understanding the Rights of Workers, Refusal Process and Stop Work.

4) Conducting an Effective Accident Investigation

  • Meeting Ministry of Labour compliance when there is a critical injury
  • Conducting an Accident Investigation with the goal of finding the root cause
  • Learning the importance of total responsibility as shown in the "Magic Thought"
  • Eliminate blaming and assuming everything is common sense.
  • Make recommendations
  • Follow through on those recommendations to eliminate an injury or illness in the future

5) JHSC Effectiveness:

  • Level I and Level II JHSC Certification Training - Participate in Level I Certification Training to meet legislated requirements. Require large groups otherwise I will refer you to the Ontario Service Safety Alliance who I facilitate for on occasion.

  • JHSC Effectiveness - JHSC meeting with group on writing a Terms of Reference and understanding what is required to ensure its effectiveness.

  • Job Hazard Analysis as part of Level II and Part 4 of a WSIB Workwell Audit: Job categories are conducted with an experienced person outlining the risk factor and safe operating procedures that would apply to eliminate potential illnesses or injury. 5 job categories done in one day.

6) WSIB Workwell Audit - (See how you can obtain FREE policies and procedures and a continuous improvement plan) Specific training and communication for the effective roll out of policies, procedures and training requirements under a WSIB Workwell Audit.  The Magic Thought Can't Happen to Me assists as part of the training initiatives required by a WSIB Workwell Audit and meeting government compliance.

 

7) WHMIS Training - WHMIS is required to be updated on a yearly basis.  Learn your legislative requirements when handling and storing chemicals.  This program includes the importance of handling and storing chemicals both on and off the job.  Create a habit where people handle chemicals appropriately all of the time.
